Your Support

As part of your relocation support, the Global Mobility team will engage a trusted immigration vendor to assist you and your family with securing the necessary work and residence permits. They will guide you through the process and ensure all required documentation is handled efficiently.  

Visa & Residency Requirements

EU/EEA/Swiss Nationals: No visa required. 

Assistance will be provided to complete the required local registration to be completed within three months of arrival. 

Non-EU Nationals: Require a work visa and residence permit. 

The Global Mobility team, together with Flutter’s immigration advisor, will assist with the application process. An immigration call will be arranged to provide detailed information on the requirements and timelines for securing the relevant permit

Assistance will be provided to apply for the Maltese Social Security and tax numbers. 

Tax Overview

As part of your relocation, you will attend a tax briefing call with EY (Flutter approved tax provider) to assist you in understanding the tax system in Malta, your tax obligations, as well as provide support with your tax return preparation for the first year

What to expect?

Discussion of the basis of taxation in Malta based on the employee personal situation. 

  1. Review of applicable tax rates and any relevant tax deductions. 

  1. Discussion of Maltese tax implications for fringe benefits, share options/bonuses, and trailing income. 

  1. Outline of administrative procedures regarding tax return filing, review of tax statements, and the Malta payroll system (FSS). 

  1. Tax formalities required upon entering and leaving Malta are discussed with the employee 

Employees normally inquire about the basis of taxation, the tax rates including any applicable beneficiary tax rate, the basis of taxation for share options and the basis of taxation for any specific foreign sourced income remitted to Malta. 

Important to inform EY about any foreign-sourced income intended to be remitted or received in Malta.
